During the recent years there have been perceptible changes in the attitude of our people towards increased awareness not only about various products they are using in pursuit of their livelihood but also whether these mass produced consumer products are at all potent as professed by their declared purpose. Our farmers are now getting conscious about soil fertility and want to know exact causes attributing to less productivity of their land. Gripping arsenic hazard is a new alarm also making them wary. They are using various pesticides, fertilizers, seeds, poultry and fish feeds unable to assess their efficacy or quality because, opportunity or access to have them tested in qualified laboratory or be advised by qualified professionals are indeed quite limited.

In order to mitigate the situation to an extent, Islam Group in 1988 established a modern, fully computerized laboratory under the name AFTAB BIOTECH for addressing issues concerning health and environment. The laboratory of AFTAB BIOTECH has been staffed with skilled and highly motivated professionals, fully trained to serve the following purposes :

- To assess the problem of soil, water and plant rapidly and precisely and
thereby suggest corrective measures to the farmers and beneficiaries.

- To provide information on the nutrition status of the soil and monitor
changes brought about following use of pesticides and fertilizer or
accumulation of other deleterious materials.

- To assist in all other fields like water pollution, feed ingredient analysis,

The laboratory, among others, is equipped with recently imported ATOMIC ABSORPTION SPECTRO PHOTOMETER from Japan with capacity to find those elements in very accurate and precise manner which will assist scientists render services to the farmers and other beneficiaries by informing them of exact constraints and corrective measures at a minimum cost for the increased agricultural production and sound environment friendly practices.
